Quick answers to help you care for your new tattoo during the healing process.
How long do I keep the bandage on?+
Leave the bandage on for 2–4 hours after your session, or as instructed by your artist. After removing it, gently wash the tattoo with warm water and fragrance-free soap.
How should I wash my new tattoo?+
Wash your tattoo gently with clean hands, warm water, and mild fragrance-free soap. Pat it dry with a clean towel. Do not scrub or rub the area.
What moisturizer should I use?+
Use a thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer or the aftercare product recommended by your artist. Avoid applying too much, as your tattoo needs to breathe while healing.
Can I go to the gym or swim?+
Avoid swimming, hot tubs, saunas, and soaking your tattoo until it is fully healed. For the gym, avoid heavy sweating, friction, and direct contact with equipment on the tattooed area.
Is it normal for my tattoo to itch or peel?+
Yes. Light itching, peeling, and flaking are normal during healing. Do not scratch, pick, or peel the tattoo.
How long does it take to fully heal?+
Most tattoos look healed within 1–3 weeks, but deeper healing can take longer. Follow your aftercare instructions and protect the tattoo while it heals.
When should I contact my artist or a doctor?+
Contact your artist if you are unsure about the healing process. If you notice severe swelling, intense pain, unusual discharge, fever, or signs of infection, contact a medical professional.
